The Prince of Wales' Responsible Business Network
Our members work together to tackle a wide range of issues that are essential to building a fairer society and a more sustainable future.
We are a business-led, issue-focused charity with more than 30 years' experience of mobilising business. We engage thousands of businesses through our programmes driven by our core membership of over 800 organisations from small enterprises to global corporations.
Ready for Work, Business in the Community's flagship employment programme, supports some of society's most disadvantaged people to enter employment, with business involvement every step of the way.
The people we support face a varied number of challenges that exclude them from employment. Many have previously experienced homelessness or face the risk of eviction. Criminal convictions and a lack of qualifications, often stand in their way. Others have been in care, or are overcoming long-term unemployment. But they all have something in common - a strong desire to make a better life through work.
Our structured programme offers 2 days of training, a 2-week work placement with a leading business and post-placement support through coaching, events and drop-in sessions.
Clients who will benefit are actively seeking employment and are enthusiastic about the opportunities that a work placement can bring. Structured work placements provide invaluable experience for people facing barriers to work. By providing placements, businesses can make a massive difference to individuals' chances of employment by helping them build their CVs, develop key employability skills, improve self-confidence and gain essential references.
If you are hoping to take part in Ready for Work yourself please note that we do not take self-referrals so let your key worker or support worker know that you are interested.
Keyworkers can contact 0121 296 2081 to find out more and discuss opportunities for referrals further and to gain access to our online referral system.
