Opportunities for people with Special Educational Needs
Wolverhampton Vocational Training Centre
The centre supports 16 to 19 year old students with Special Educational Needs and all admissions come through an Education, Health and Care Plan. It is a free school and has been offering vocational training since September 2015.
It is a two year programme made up of six key areas:
- Vocational specialism in a number of areas including Construction
- Personal Development
- Functional Skills – English, Maths and ICT
- Work Experience
It also offers extra-curricular activities including cooking, outdoor education, First Aid @ Work, Enterprise etc. There are currently 12 students on the programme.
The Construction Specialism covers:
- CITB Level 1 Health & Safety Construction Environment
- CITB Multi-Skills Level 1
- Trades covered brick work, painting & decorating and carpentry
In future the programme will be offering the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (Green Card).
Supported Internship Programme
This programme can last from 1 to 2 years and students spend 4 days a week in the work place and 1 day training.
Employers currently working with the programme include Carvers and the Goldthorn Hotel.

Headstart Study Programme
Are you 16-18 years?
Our programme includes English, Maths, ICT at an appropriate level from Entry Level to Level 2, GCSE English/Maths available is also available as work placement.
You will receive a City & Guilds Level 1 Award/Certificate/Diploma in Basic Construction Skills.
You can join the programme at anytime.
