Topps Training

Introduction to Mentoring

This nationally recognised qualification is suitable for anyone who would like to teach or train adults. The Award is a professional teaching qualification. Assessment includes completion of a workbook and delivering a 15 minute teaching session.

Date: Thursday 11th & Friday 12th January 2018
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day
Venue: Topps - 2 Langley Road, Wolverhampton, WV3 7LH
Delivery: Individual initial guidance interview (to be arranged to suit you). 2 x one day workshops. Additional support as required.
Fees: £475 (includes light refreshments, learning materials and certification)

Who is this programme for?

This programme is suitable for anyone who is unemployed and who:

  • Wants to learn what mentoring is and the skills required to be a mentor
  • Wants to learn how to support others through mentoring
  • Wants to enhance their CV
  • Is happy to share their life experiences and knowledge
  • Feels comfortable mixing with a socially and culturally diverse group
  • Want to identify their own strengths and areas for development
  • Want to practice what they learn in a supportive and friendly environment
  • Want to practice their communication and presentation skills
  • Is happy to give and receive feedback

Entry requirements:

You will need to be able to express yourself clearly and effectively in writing and verbally. Prior to commencing the course a numeracy and literacy diagnostic will need to be completed.

Eligibility:

Free for the unemployed aged 18 or over, living in Black Country, with proof of ID, proof of unemployment and not currently be attending any other ESF funded programme. (Please contact Elen on Tel: 01902 652307 for further clarity of eligibility).

Topps Training

Level 3 Award in Education and Training (formerly known as PTLLS)

This nationally recognised qualification is suitable for anyone who would like to teach or train adults. The Award is a professional teaching qualification. Assessment includes completion of a workbook and delivering a 15 minute teaching session.

Date: 15th-19th January 2018
Venue: Topps - 2 Langley Road, Wolverhampton, WV3 7LH
Delivery: This course is delivered over one week (Monday to Friday 10am until 4.30pm).

What does the proramme include?

The programme covers the following aspects of teacher training:

  • planning a teaching session and devising inclusive resources
  • the role and responsibilities of a tutor / trainer
  • the training cycle
  • meeting individual learner needs and ensuring an inclusive learning environment
  • inclusive teaching and learning methods
  • the principles of assessment in lifelong learning
  • evaluation strategies

  • Want to identify their own strengths and areas for development
  • Want to practice what they learn in a supportive and friendly environment
  • Want to practice their communication and presentation skills
  • Are happy to give and receive feedback
